Thinking Outside The Box

I'm sorry I've been late. It's been hectic here. I don't even have time to blog right now but just to prove I'm still alive, I thought I'd post some pictures of what I'm doing to my bedroom. That's right, that wall is black. Black is shocking enough but for those of you who really know me and know how much I love old things, country things, and homey things, and light sunny colors, black is downright unorthodox.

The problem is, the bedroom was looking a little too "old lady." Once I put out all my antique clocks, lace doilies, and pictures of someone else's ancestors in round picture frames around the room, I knew I had to add a little modern. So this is what I am working on.

I wouldn't have thought of it myself, but I think it will look good - act as a background for all your lovely things without trying to compete like if you had used wallpaper with patterns on. Keep sending us photos!

I think that looks lovely. You are a great decorator.

Looks pretty cool.. you have some nice light coming in.. so it shouldn't look too "dark". You have such good taste.. seriously

Also glad to see a post from you.. and that you have just been busy.. not any other problems keeping you away:)

I'm thinking it will be very dramatic once you're done and set off your antiques. Take pictures when you're done.

I love the pics, all of them.

I really like it! It adds a nice touch to the room, providing contrast. You are so much better at decorating than I am :)

This month's Country Living has a spread on two people's houses who have black walls! They beat me to it!

I love it. I think it looks really cool. Reminds me of when we decided to put a black shag carpet in my bedroom. It was gutsy, but it looked awesome! Gotta go bold!

Looks great. The black really makes the lighter colors stand out!

Good for you, Debi, being so bold. You sure do have a good eye for color and design. Me, I had an inner "little old lady" even when I was young, so I like the little old lady look. :-) When people see our house, they always say, "This looks like my Grandma's house." But it's a lot of fun to see somebody boldly step away from convention. You go, girl!

I ADORE everything that you've done with this new home, but most of all, the thing that you've done that I love the most, is that you moved into it! You are the best kind of neighbor, the best kind of friend, the best kind of soul to share existence with. I am you ardent and true fan, always.

Your room looks very comfortable. I think this summer has been busy for a lot of us. I don't think I've blogged much either. Once the days are even shorter, and colder, and we are inside more, then I'll get back to blogging more! It's good to touch base with you!

Ok.. so, I don't know whether you are still looking at your blog or not, but I have been thinking about you guys up there after the hurricane. Hope everyone is safe and not too much damage

We're okay! We got very lucky. Most of the rest of the state is devastated. I will try to get back on here soon and catch you up and read everyone else's blogs!
