Mothering My Mother

My mother needs me. I'll be gone for a while. I don't know if I'll be able to check in, but if not, I'll miss you all. Thank you for all the kind words, support and prayers. And the gifts from The Blue Ridge Gal and Blue Ridge Blue Collar Girl. You guys have made me feel better. Now I hope to help my mom feel better.

Hang in there. I will pray that there will be someone there to mother you while you are so needed.

Be good to yourself while going through this. Sometimes the caretaker in the family needs care as much as those she is caring for.

You and your mother and all your family are in my thoughts and prayers, Debi. As the others have said, do take care of yourself, too. May God bless all of you, my friend.

My thoughts are with you, Debi. I know how hard it is to tear yourself away from one part of your family to go and be with another. I do hope your mom will be better.

Your post today caught my eye. The name of my book is Mothering Mother: A Daughter's Humorous and Heartbreaking Memoir--and I lived it.

I cared for my mom full-time in my home the last almost 3 years of her life. Yes, it was challenging (that's putting it nicely) but I'm so grateful for the time we had. She taught me so much about "me."
Good luck with your writing!

I just got back from VA and PA and checked in. I do pray that the time spent is not too stressful for you. Caretaking can be very, very demanding - be sure to take care of yourself as well! And do let us know how you are doing, please.
