Myhusband thinks he is a knight protecting his castle! Wood dowels are all over the place in readiness. Debi, are the king bees like jumbo yellow jackets with a huge yellow wasplike butt?

I had to laugh at your locked door comment. I wrote my column about this a few months back. I'll have to find that one to share with you.Heather Brushhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12019909140562543734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1779328319254618990.post-84632248545352264282007-05-23T14:52:00.000-04:002007-05-23T14:52:00.000-04:00Amy H., no, these king bees are bigger than the ca...Amy H., no, these king bees are bigger than the carpenter bees. I'm not kidding, they're as big as a man's big toe. But those carpenter bees are bad too. They're eating my barn down--worse than termites!

Amy T., com'on over. My door's always open. Well, not really being that I'm from the city. They burrow perfect circle shaped holes into your wood - deck, house, shed, barn. My Dad, the carpenter, fills the holes with a little wood glue and a dowel. I use the long range bug spray.Amy Hanekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17948641570199768387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1779328319254618990.post-3036437610063900022007-05-23T08:18:00.000-04:002007-05-23T08:18:00.000-04:00I was going to write about all things itchy and ca...I was going to write about all things itchy and call it "Spiders, and Ticks, and Chiggers, oh my!" But, then I realized that my biggest battle thus far has been the ivy.
The King Bees are what my Dad calls Carpenter Bees. They make perfect circle shaped holes in any wood surface you can find. My Dad, being the carpenter that he is, plugs the holes with a little wood glue and a small dowel. I do not intend to get that close and have followed them to their home and then sprayed the little hole they entered. I have found five holes in my shed and deck, but am sure that more are around all the time. These bees are my arch nemesis when I am cleaning my pool. We have staring contests!Amy Hanekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17948641570199768387noreply@blogger.com
